Why you should ditch tilt controls in Neon Drift Alley

Neon Drift Alley defaults to tilt steering, and I get why — it feels intuitive for about two corners. Then you hit a tight hairpin and realize you cannot hold a precise drift while shaking your phone around a train.

Switching to on-screen buttons is buried one menu deep, but it transformed the game for me. Suddenly I could hold a clean drift line and feather the throttle out of corners instead of oversteering into walls.

Once you have the buttons, the real skill is chaining drifts to keep your boost meter full. Short taps to correct, long holds for big slides. The tracks are designed so a full boost carries you through the next straight if you set it up right.

I dropped nearly four seconds off my best lap after the switch, purely from control precision. If you have been fighting the tilt, try the buttons for one race before you write the game off.
